Serving Christ in Japan with YWAM
John La Due was born on October 14th in Minneapolis, MN. Jean was born on July 14th in Seattle Washington, where she was also raised. Both John and Jean accepted Christ as adults; John at the age of 28 and Jean at age 25. John attended the University of South Dakota, where he received training in wilderness work. He has also attended numerous YWAM schools over the years. The La Dues were married on February 28th.
John worked for YWAM as the National Chairman for 12 years, until recently when he turned that role over to the Japanese people three years ago. For the past seven years John has been working with and leading local churches and staff people towards the beginning of a community center, which will be home to a coffee house, English classes, cooking classes, Bible studies, and more. John is also a part of the East Asia Regional Leadership Team with YWAM. John and Jean claim Philippians 3:14, which says, “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus,” as their life verse.
The La Dues’ main connection to YCC is through Bill and Danece Stapleton, whom they met in Japan, as well as through the Stapleton’s son-in-law, Gil Mejia. “We are grateful to have you standing with us,” said Jean, “Your continued prayer and financial support are a blessing.”
There are five prayer requests that are of main concern and that La Dues would like YCC family to be in prayer about, they are: for closer walks with the Lord for themselves and their children, salvation for the many Japanese who have heard the gospel, staff to join them in the ongoing battle, for material needs such as housing and finances, and for a deeper relationship with local churches and pastor’s groups.
