Frequently Asked Questions About
YCC Global (short-term) Outreaches
Who will lead my outreach?
YCC has been involved for many years in short term mission outreaches. In that time leaders have developed to the point where, what is now occurring is just an expansion of activities which have been going on all along. Leaders are trained and discipled to protect and provide guidance and security for participants in the outreaches.
Will we work alone or alongside other mission agencies?
Yes, several mission agencies, among them Youth With A Mission, New Mission Systems, Mission Aviation Fellowship, Africa Hope and others, are providing on-site leadership, logistics and support. We plan short-term outreaches as opportunities to work alongside our established missionaries, allowing their skill, wisdom and maturity to "rub off" on us.
What is a Target Action Group?
YCC Global Outreach Teams are about more than missions. Discipleship happens in the most effective way as we bind ourselves together to accomplish a mission task. Target Action Groups begin well before the outreach. The groups meet to discuss and participate in training for the task, but also around such activities as prayer, personal journaling, learning elements of spiritual warfare and the importance of planning. What can we expect God to do? What can we not expect He will do? In this way we are training missionaries for work both abroad and at home after they return.
How would I get the money to go?
Where God guides God provides. YCC Global Outreach is committed to participate with each short term missionary. This will provide a seed for your faith to grow. However, when you do the possible, God follows through with the impossible. Remember, God is committed to both getting the job done and using His people to do the job.
What if I have no skills?
Every believer has gifts and callings which God can use in the course of accomplishing a mission task. Certain skills are premium, of course, but there is no guarantee that those skills will be used. Since God is truly in charge of the YCC Global Outreach Teams, we need to ask Him if we are to go, not dwell on what we might do if we do go.
Are gifts for my outreach tax deductible?
Yes. The new tax laws state very clearly that gifts to support trips done under the auspices of a church are deductible so long as there is no significant element of pleasure, recreation or vacation involved. This applies even if you want to give money for your own trip. Should you have any questions on this subject, a call to our financial department will settle the matter.
What about insurance??
Travel insurance is automatically included in the cost of each Global Outreach. If your personal insurance provides sufficient coverage, you may wish to direct any claims to them. However, the cost of travel insurance is included in the outreach fees.
Other Questions you may have can be addressed to the YCC Global Outreach board via E-Mail. We will try to get back to you as quickly as possible.
